My hubby's grandmother has an in home daycare and I asked all the kids there what was I having and they all told me a boy except one little girl (which she has been right about everyone elses baby's sex) well I went with her thought because she has been right all the other times and come to find out my little boy is only three months away.

I was anxious just like you and read all the old wives tales on www.babycenter.com and it was right a boy. There may not be any truth to all those wives tales but they have been right about both of my pregnancies. Try going on there and they will give you a survey like test and then at the end it will tell you according to the wives tales. Good Luck and I hope everything goes well for you and baby.

The reason why you are not told until your second scan is because 1. The external genitals are probably indeterminate depending on the time you get scanned, 2. What it's got is so small you won't see it any way.

I don't refuse to tell parents the gender of the child, I tell them I am unable to tell not unwilling to tell them.

You HAVE to remember that the only way to tell the gender is to have a chomosomal test - amniocentesis or CVS. There is a 1 in 100 chance of miscarriage following amniocentesis........ and there is a very small chance that they sample your tissues instead. It is not worth even asking for these tests for gender determination - you won't get it, the risks of miscarriage are too high.
Ultrasound determination of fetal gender is not accurate for many reasons. Swollen labia can look like a scrotum, enlarged clitoris can look like a penis. The position of baby is very important for obvious reasons.
You have to remember there are rare but possible abnormalities of the external genitals that can make ultrasound gender assessment wrong.

Sorry - no way of telling till the second scan.

And even then they can only tell if the baby is in the right position and you can see what's going on down there.

Are you sure you are ready for your husband to have a vasectomy? If you feel as strongly as this, maybe you should talk to him about it.

It can cause a lot of problems in a relationship if all hope of fertility is gone before both partners are ready for it.

In fact, our local hospital won't do a vasectomy until at least a year after the last baby was born.

i dont think they really work, but ive heard that if u carry low its a boy, and if u carry high its a girl. my favorite is the one where if the heart rate is higher it'll be a girl, lower it'll be a boy. I actually believed this one ( my baby's heart rate was at 160 on three occassions) and it turned out to be a boy. :)) so the best thing you can do is just wait until the baby actually gets here, or atleast til ur ultrasound :)) Good Luck and congrats!!

My mom used to swear by this:
1. Take the # of the month you conceived (July would be 7, Aug 8 etc.)
2. add it to the age you were when you conceived.

If the number is odd its a boy if the number is even its a girl...for example: If you got pregnant in July (7th month) and you were 31 when you conceived..the number would be 38 which would be a girl. Good Luck

Try contacting a college medical department that trains ultra sound technicians. Many times you can get in for free or for under $50. They do a very detailed u/s so they can teach all that they can to the student. I had a 4D one done. :-)
