No because they may take the thorns for a taste test. It happened to my idiotic friend about a year ago and his bearded dragon died.

Unfortunately, it is not a good idea at all. Beardies are very curious little guys, and they like to lick things when they get overly curious. Not to mention the fact that they are omnivores, so it is going to look like something tempting to eat anyway. You are setting yourself up for big trouble if you put one in the tank, and most likely it will cost you your dragon's life.

Bearded dragons come from the outback regions of Australia, and while it is hot and dry, it is not the type of a desert region where you would find cactus growing. There are, however, other options if you want to add a safe plant and something that your dragon can nibble at that wont hurt it. If you get yourself a pot and some organic (no fertilizers added) soil, you can plant things like dandelions, or parsley in it and put that in it's cage. The dragon will enjoy the fresh greens, and you will have something decorative until it is chowed down. :)

No, the spines could injure it and if the cactus has been treated with harmful pesticides or chemicals, it could make your beardie sick.
