I'm looking for some new films to get into. My favorite film is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, although I like many other strange independent films that are based upon approaching a theory in the most literal since possible insofaras what would actually happen if the theory were true. Some of such films are Primer and Happy Accidents, both which involve time travel, and Last Night, which deals (realistically) with the last night on earth. I also like surreal films, but there has to still be some beauty intertwined, like in Virgin Suicides. I also like films that are, on the surface, almost entirely nonsensical yet are essentially more complex, such as Soderberg's Schizopolis. I like Linklater's films...Waking Life, Before Sunrise and Sunset, but I hated his most recent.
Please give me some recommendations!

"the fountain" would probably be one of those movies.

The Fountain, yes, very conceptual. I would disagree on Virgin Suicides, as Sofia Coppalo completely destroyed a wonderful novel by her choice of actors, but at least did it justice with the soundtrack .... I Heart Huckabees had a sense of humor about it. Linklater's Slacker was his best.

I recommend "Mindwalk" (1990) with Sam Waterson (Law and Order).

A Clockwork Orange goes really deep in that. Also The Emerald Forest has a big message.
