I actually read that story!I read it in english class... Its hard to say. I think it was the lady though because if she truly loved him than she would rather see him alive than dead. And imagine if she picked the tiger than she would have to watch a tiger eat her love. Its a difficult choice. Your answer also reflects your personal choice. But to me i would say the lady.
Even though she would be jealous and she hates the girl, if she wasnt selfish she would make the right choice

The author deliberately leaves the question open. Personally, I believe it must have been the tiger. She is "semi barbaric", and extremely jealous; there are indications that she would rather see her lover dead than in the arms of someone else. Most of all, she spends more time agonizing over the possibility of his marrying the other woman, than she does over the idea of his being devoured by the beast. She has a bit of squeamishness to overcome, but of the two, choosing the lady seems to be the scenario which tortures her more.

What she SHOULD HAVE done, however, is to position *herself* behind the door as the lady, instead of her rival. If she could find a way to get at the kingdom's most closely guarded secret, surely she could have found a way to do that. And if opening that door proves that he has done no wrong, then their relationship is valid, and there is no legitimate reason to forbid their marriage.

Such an essay is pointless. There is a 50/50 chance of it being either. The point of the story is that it's up to the reader's perspective - it is designed to tell you something about yourself. Teachers who make students deconstruct this story missed the whole point of the story! ARGGGGH!!

The lady.
Honestly, if you were the woman protagonist in the story, would you want to see the man you loved torn apart by a tiger?

It all depends on you. If you're violent then you pick the tiger, if you believe in love you'd pick the lady

There is no "right" answer. Your choice actually reveals your own perspectives on life and justice. No one can give you a third reason because it is based completely on your own beliefs and hopes.
