Dear Friend,

If you can not afford to buy good books, then you do not have to loose your heart. There is enough free material available on internet. Go through good sites like www.morningstar.com

You can enroll in Morningstar university for free and they really have very very good tutorials. I started my journey in stock market at morningstar. That was 5 years back. That is really one good site you do not want to miss out.

All the best.

Start simple....assume you have Rs.xxxxxxxxxxx. Build a notional portfolio of scrips by selecting them based on whatever you know.

Then, create an xls sheet and track prices and plot graphs.

After a while, try predicting the trend of prices based on hunch feeling, averages, reading the graphs and whatever that you believe in (even your jyotish advice).

Sharpen your judgement by following up on the basis of your forecasted price versus actual.

Trust me, in a month's time, you will become a pro....then pitch in with small amount into one scrip you are most confident about. That is it....once your "own" money is in the game, you will become the best trader....only if you listen to yourself and only yourself....

Best of Luck....
