As someone pointed out, it's short for "web log" -- a public, on-line diary.
People post the most recent thing on top (which seems weird at first, but people who visit often will first see things they haven't yet read).
Quality of blogs, as well as their purposes, vary wildly. There are political blogs, and personal blogs, and who knows what else.
I frequently visit some political blogs and often find they're better than older news sources for finding out what's going on.
But there are a lot of crappy one's out there, too.

A blog (web log) is a web diary where you can post pictures, voice recordings, etc. Where you write about different topics, life experiences and people on the web can comment on it.

Blog is short for Web Log. it's somewhere between a diary and a soapbox. You can jot your activities, thoughts, etc for all the world to see.

a blog is where u can voice your opinion and post up videos anything of entertainment that is tastefull of coarse and meet new people.it is kinds cool and can be addictive.
