A federal offense is any crime that violates a federal law (as opposed to a state or local law or ordinance.) If you are charged with a federal offense, you are prosecuted by the U. S. Government, rather than by the District Attorney of a particular county or city. It's usually a more serious crime. There are books full of those laws...it would be impossible to list them all here.

There are state laws and federal laws. When a federal law is broken it's called a federal offense. An example would be using the mail for fraud or shipping drugs.

Any act that violates federal law. Federal laws apply heavily to drugs, the US Mail, Interstate commerce, immigration.

It can also be any crime committed on federal property (parks owned by the National Park service, etc)

Almost anything can be a federal offense. State laws and Federal Laws usually overlap. If you really want to know what the Federal Criminal Laws are you can always read teh Federal Code.
