I'm sure it does for other people, especially if it is a general question that typically only has one answer. If a normal cartoon avatar answers and then a picture of a half naked girls' **** are on one... well it might impair ones decision. But not for me, I just pick the answer I like the best or was the most helpful.

No. When you pick a best answer, you rely on what the person says, and how he/she is true to it. The avatar should never be a deciding factor. Although, someone on Answers! has a picture of a person showing his butt to the world. The username was Jesus Rule!! or something like that :)
PIck the one that has a source for the answer. If neither of them have it, then just pick, and say, good job... or something like that.

I have noticed that some men will choose a "cute" girl's answer over others, even it the answer is way off base. Apparently, though, reading the other responses here, the women do not use this criterion.

I don't think so. If two people give me the same answer and they are both right I would choose the person that answered first.

It depends on the person the picks the best answer. I pick exactly what it says, best answer.but some people do i'm sure. not usually though
