''''''''''''(i only really babysit the 8 year old, the 11 year old isnt very trustworthy considering they have a pool)''''''''''''my neighbors were about 8 and 11 and the 8 year old comes running down the stairs to me and started telling that his older brother(we will call him jo) was itching himself while getting dressed i asked tom (the 8 year old) where because jo is alleregic to many bug bites and the mom was gone, and tom said his 'peepee' (jo shares his room with tom (the 8 year old) (tom walked in on him)i , of course was shocked and went up stairs, i didnt go in or look but i asked if he was okay, he said he was and he would be down in a few minutes. their parents are divorced and they live with the mom. any way when he came down stairs tom started laughing at him and i had to drag tom away and tell jo that 'rubbing' himself is normal (they cry alot) jo then started crying and started to tell me the story, which consisted of some late night adult tv, tom in bed, and parents

First, congrats on handling it with sensitivity. I have never had to deal with anything like that before, but I was wondering did you mention anything to the Mom (of course I don't know how you would bring it up)? And if Jo is still being abused you might want to make an anonymous phone call to the authorities.

You sound like a great babysitter. You have a big heart and great intentions.

I'm a mom of a 10 year old who is starting the whole "penis, puberty thing" I think that you should a talk with his mom if she is an understanding kind of person....on the other hand if she is not an understanding person and she finds out that you had "a talk" with her son she might get a little pissed.

Just keep being the good person you are. Of course he is embarrassed!!

If there is something going on as far as the parents being sexually involved call the police.

What you did was right to explain. But you should have had a talk with the parent as well to let the know what is going on. At that age there should not be any adult shows for him to watch, and his parents should be aware of this. He could go to school and do something he doesn't truly understand, and end up in big trouble. Don't worry about him being embarrassed, he will get over it.

How inappropriate. How dare you have "the talk" with someone else's children!

You're a borderline child sex abuser. If I were the parents of the children you babysat, I'd have called the police on you. I'm reporting you to Yahoo.

its normall just keep between you and the boy ( w/e his name is) dont tell his mother because you never know what she will do with her beinge drunk n them beinge seperated. if your talk made him feal good n n( or beter about himself) their is no sence to y bring the subject back up again but if he was still worried THEN i would tell his mom BUT the boy IS NOT any more so their is NO POINT OF TELLING HER

Yes! You must let her know as Its bad for the young. They shouldn't get influence by such things. And parents shd teach their children sex edu right? Okay maybe in the future.

with honesty being the best policy, I would tell the parents, probably the dad, if I was scared, I would write it in a letter.

Let it go. It's not worth snitching on. You'll come off as a molester and lose a job.

You had no right having "The Talk" with a kid that's not yours. You should have told the mom what happened and let her deal with it.
