They collect no more than carpets, you just can't see the dust on the carpet. Also when you vacume, it doesn't get it all, if you ever lift up a carpet underneath the pad is a large collection of all that dust that has settled on through the layers, and the vacume can't pick it up. Hardwood floors are much healthier.

All floors collect the same amount of dust. Most hardwood floors have a thin protective coating (like wax) on them that shines with light. That and the fact the wood floor is dark in color, you can see a lot of dust on them.

look on the bright side . . . with hardwoods you can actually SEE the dust and can clean it up more often. My son has asthma so we recently replaced all the carpet in our house with HW -- now I vacuum every other day because its so gross! Before I would only vacuum once or twice a week . . . EEWWWW!

all floors do, I have marble floors and they get really dusty too, problem is it shows up better on wood so you see it easier. Dont think you are the only one though, everyone has to fight a constant dust battle with their floors.

Actually all surfaces in your house collect the same amount of dust. Carpet just absorbs it so you can't see it but it's there.

Because we walk all over the place and the bottom of our shoes carry all that. Besides there is no such thing as dust-free 100%.

It is sometimes due to people walking on the floors with socks on and causing static from the socks rubbing on the urethane finish. Also look and see if your house is dry you may need to add moisture

They really don't collect any more than anything else in your house, you just can't see it on carpeted floors.

It just looks that way compared to other fllors because it's so smooth.

The rougher the surface the more it will hide anything coating it.
