I Don't Know Which One Should I Go, Many Of Our Peoples Told That HP Is Better As I Also Think, Because I Had A Dell Laptop And It's Hardware Is Getting Corrupted Which Is DVD-ROM Drive Because It Is Not Reading DVDs. I Had Not Seen HP Yet, But Dell Has More Features Than HP. Dell Offers High-Performance Tablet PCs And Android, But HP Is Not Beside. If You Want To Buy, You Can Go To HP, But I Recommend Dell!.

Alienware has a great reputation. However, it's geared towards gaming. If you're not a hardcore gamer, it may be too much computer for what you need (meaning you're paying too much for stuff you'll never use).

Dells reputation sucks now. In general, no company has real quality anymore except for maybe Lenovo (formerly IBM). Even Lenovo's stuff is slightly worse in quality than in the past (when they were owned officially by IBM). Still, for business, that's who you want to get. For general home use, it doesn't matter too much anymore. Dell, HP/Compaq, Acer, whatever.

Sony has a long history of poor quality. Stuff looks great, but all that proprietary (meaning Sony only) software and stuff wreaks havoc whenever you install other stuff onto the computer. I'd never buy a Sony laptop unless I only planned on using what was on the computer, Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint, and a basic HP laser printer. Anything else, like all in one printers, other software, Firefox, etc leaves you at a big risk of something clashing with one of those stupid Sony programs that are pre-loaded and causing more headaches than it's worth.

As other posters have stated, alienware was purchased by dell.com a while ago, so the quality will be comparable. I personally own 2 dell laptops for the quality. They have been running great and we take good care of them.

There is a 20% off $999 coupon good until 1/31 for dell laptops at http://www.24houredeals.com/dell-coupons-23-mer.html I would say go for the dell, use the coupon, and get a great machine.

Both Dell and Alienware are owned by Dell.
They under their own brands make powerful high end computers both reliable but different.

Once you are sure of what you want to do with the computer it will be up to you to compare the systems and choose the one that best meets you requirements.

Most people would never use the power in either of those high power computers and the extra money they charge for their high end power computers would be a waste.

Many can by get by very nicely with computers costing less than half what is charged by Dell for either high power systems.

I would not really look at the brand names of the laptop but what is in it.
I would also do some research on the laptops you are looking at, read reviews on cnet.com or newegg.com and chose what is best suited for your computing style.

In the past anything Alienware has put out was usually geared towards gamers. Both Dell and Alienware are well known brands but the reviews will tell you what other people think that already have them.

Never heard of Alienware laptops. Until I saw this, I was thinking of buying a mesh laptop. Anyone any opinion on these? I'm now going to look into Alien. Thanks. PS I have a sony vaio. Very reliable except the pc is not recognising the battery. I thought the battery was done, bought a new one, then got the same message. So now I'm on direct mains supply permanently. Anyone got a cure? Thanks.

Well i would get a sony or a gateway way before i got a dell. I repair labtops and i see alot of dells. As far as alienware goes there a bit pricey but they use very high end hardware and are reliable. Plus they have a cool alien insignia on them...

HP, Compaq, Toshiba, etc. are out of the league of Alienware by miles.

Alienware is fantastic, and their tech support is leaps and bounds better than these other companies.

Dell did purchase Alienware, and now they have the XPS line, which apparently is designed by Alienware.

If you're looking for comparable companies, also look at voodoopc, who hand make their laptops.

I had a Dell and actually went with HP 17" widescreen laptop. its very cool for photos and watching DVD's. The dell was just OK after about a year of using it where the HP is still going strong and the screen is still very bright.

Alienware laptops rock! (Even if the higher end ones are a bit heavy)
