If your laptop plug is a three prong plug you will need an adapter. I don't know what you mean by service provider but if you are talking about internet yahoo bb is pretty good, their dsl starts at around 2500 yen per month.

Buy and adapter fit for your laptop, and if youre planning on using internet ask the company providing the service any other doubts (because they suck at explaining after youve purchased the service)

I DONT KNOW HOW PEOPLE CAN TRAVEL WITHOUT A LAPTOP, IM SURE YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THEM UNLESS YOU ARE PLANNING IN BUYING A NEW ONE. WHEN YOU ET THERE YOU WILL FIND THE BEST PROVIDER TO MEET YOUR NEEDS. HAVE A SAFE TRIP BACK TO JAPAN.
