It sounds as if the authorities need to be called.

Shes pobbaly beating her because shes afraid that she will have sex with one of the guys or already knows she has. Never the less I don't think it's right to beat her unless she has had sex with any of the guys. Mebe your freind is not being intirely honest with you about the setuation. Also the mother probbaly doesn't like the fact that shes around guys constantly because most men are perverts and think about sex constantly. But if what you say is true then yeah there is no reason for her mother to do that. Unfortunenately it's her mothers discission how she wishes to raise her child. If your freind doesn't like her raising style then she could report her mother to the authorities. The conclusion will be ither shes put with another family member or put in a shelter or another possibility a group home. Hope this helps Sincerely Meg. PS. I admire your concern for your freind

That sounds very terrible. I can relate to this situation. I have a lot of male friends and my parents don't like it. One day my dad saw me talking to a boy and when I got home from school, he hitted me. The reason why this girl that you know is in this situation is because her parents are overprotective. She shouldn't worry about what the neighbors think about her having a lot of male friends. She should stay strong. Maybe she should try to make a female friend and show her parents that not all her friends are boys. I'll write more later. I hope this could help you understand..
:edit:
She could report it to the cops but that could cause more trouble. Let her deal with her own problem. You should be there to protect her and give her comfort.

this girl needs to get away from her mom. is she somewhere safe now?
It sounds like they are feeling the pressures of trying to fit into a society with prejudiced opions about others. Her mom is concerned about her daughters reputation and not her feelings. she needs to be more understanding of her daughters feelings. It sounds like this girl is in an abusive situation and may need another place to stay if the abuse continues. Maybe you can talk to the mother about your concerns for your friends safety, but if you dont feel confortable doing that do tell someone. Tell your guidence conselor at school or hers. If no one is available call child protection services.

I also think your friend need help. Her Mom doesn't sound like she is in her right mind. When I was a teen I always hung out with boys, they were so much fun, and you didn't have the competition. Girls were always jealous and rather mean so I preferred to hang out with boys. I turned out just fine, been married forever and have 2 beautiful girls. So hanging out with the boys is not a bad thing at all.

The mother crossed the line but she has an excellent point. The girl is just going to get in trouble by hanging out with a bunch of guys.

I don't think its a problem at all to have a lot of male friends. Her mom should be reported to CPS, theres no reason to lay a hand on a child, even if she's almost an adult.

thats terrible she shouldn't have done that. there nothing wrong with having a bunch of guy friends who gives a **** what people think about it. friends are friends no matter if they're guys or girls. she should really call somebody about what her mom did or talk to another adult that she trusts that might be able to help her out.

If her mom physically beat her someone needs to interfere. Treating your children like that is abuse. She needs to call social services and tell them that her mom beat her. They may not believe her, but I do believe it's a law that they have to look into it.
