The Maid of the Mist usually closes in the late fall, and re-opens again in the spring. No definite dates for this year (it can often vary year to year), but it's definitely closed now.
On top of ice floes in the river, there's also a lot less tourists in town once summer's over, so they take the boats out of the water.

the falls are frozen solid in teh winter time.
unless of course you wnat to skate on teh ice.
that sounds scaryy thoughh.
