There is always hope every 4 years. Until they treat elected officials differently when it comes to accountability, status quo will remain. Put a minimum 10 years of hard labour sentence for things such as electoral fraud, accepting kickbacks, abuse of power, etc. May make some think twice, unfortunately, that'll never happen.

There's an old maxim: "Power tends to corrupt - absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely". No government is immune. When people have power, they are tempted to misuse it.

This is why our country was set up with three separate branches of government. They are intended to be the checks and balances on each other. Problems occur if both the administrative and legislative branches are run by the same party; even worse if the majority of justices were appointed by that party.

Our voting system tends to even things out over time, but in the last century, our elected officials on both parties gerrymandered voting districts to more or less guarantee certain districts would be 'safe' seats. This has somewhat upset the balance needed for fair and open government.

Our newly elected representatives will bring some oversight back into the system, so there is a good chance things will swing back more into a balanced system again in 2007.

Yes, when the tooth fairy, santa, easter bunny and the wee little leprechauns take over the government. Oh, and maybe Peter Pan too. Otherwise, I highly doubt it, sorry, but corruption exist and I hate it, but power has been proven to be a mighty intoxicant
to most in politics.

No, all governments are corrupt even if they don't know it, how else would they ever balance the budget and manipulate the people.

Some governments do the "right" thing about 50% of t5he time.

We are doing the right thing...it is the bleeding heart libs that (in thier foolish beliefs) think that all we have to do is talk the problems away...It isn't going to happen ..You may not agree with what the decisions that are made are...but at least they are made.
The right actions may not be the most popular...but it is a question of what needs to be done ...not what we would like....I would like a million dollars to fall out opf the sky into my lap...it isn't happening...I have to work to live...

Yes. When we have a President who, upon Inauguration Day will bow the knee before the world and dedicate his Presidency and this country to Jesus Christ, then real reform will take place. When the devil knows that he can no longer control the White House with his lies, then American will experience true freedom and we can rightful take our place as God's blessing upon the earth.

I'm not saying that they're doing the right things, but not everyone thinks like you do, they think they're doing the RIGHT thing. Everyone has different action, and knowledge. That's all there is to it.
