I think sociald is right,
I have just delved into the register of my Dell and i see that the Dell web site is listed as a default site on internet explorer, should everything else fail.
Not spyware just a security issue.

I seriously doubt its a spyware issue. the dell homepage is cached and saved as an offline temp file so its easy to load that.
I would bet that you have some kind of internet security that is set to protect the homepage from being changed. ... norton comes to mind.

Your wife's computer has an adware which is doing that. Run a good anti spyware adware program such as Ad aware or Spy sweeper. Also, try reinstalling IE6, or update it to IE7.

There was a version of Zonealarm which prevented a user from changing the default home page.

On the far right, click on page themes. A box will come up and at the top of the box it says page themes, next to it it says back to classic view. Click that and you're good to go!
