Justice may have not been served in your eyes. But I understood why Ford did it then, and I understand it now. I don't know if you were around when Watergate happened, but I was. The nation was still reeling from Vietnam and the riots of the 60's and 70's. You think there is unrest now? It was much worse back then. Nixon's criminal activities were the last straw for many Americans, who thought our nation was falling apart at the seams. As a recent example, Clinton's impeachment was painful for many, but it didn't come close to comparing to the shame we felt over having a President who conducted deliberate criminal activities for the "good of the Republican Party." We were relieved he resigned and that we didn't have to go through impeachment and criminal trial proceedings. Most of us had just had enough of it all. I think that Ford understood the mentality of the American people at the time this happened and that it would have been more painful to have a shamed President in a prison cell than to let him slink away in shame and out of our sight. We were bruised and tired of the division in the country. It was ironic that the first thing that brought us together in years was the criminal activities of a President that many already loathed for other reasons. Many were outraged that he didn't go to jail, and it's clear you are outraged about it now. But, I think Ford did the right thing for the down in the heart people of this nation at the time. The mistake many make is assuming he did it for Nixon, he did not - he did it to help heal a very wounded populace.

you definitely need to appreciate what you're speaking approximately till now putting forth something like this. Ford have been given his activity because of the fact Spiro Agnew had to renounce as vp. he's the only vp and President appointed to the place of work. a procedures because of the fact the pardon of Nixon. That replaced into necessary to place the Watergate Scandal in the back of the yankee public and pass the rustic forward. this manner President Ford ought to handle the various different significant themes surrounding the rustic at that factor. some lines from the positioning below: there have been the irritating circumstances of getting to know inflation, reviving a depressed financial gadget, fixing persistent capability shortages, and attempting to verify worldwide peace. The President acted to chop back the trend in direction of government intervention and spending as a capacity of fixing the themes of yankee society and the financial gadget. in the long-term, he believed, this shift would deliver a extra constructive existence for all individuals. As President, Ford tried to calm till now controversies through granting former President Nixon an entire pardon. He would have not been the 'perfect' President yet replaced into the suitable guy on the suitable time in usa's historic previous to handle the activity. He healed the rustic.

Why stop there? Why not go after him for his role in Kennedy Assassination? He was a member of the Warren Commission after all. Please I am begging you, go out and get a life. A great American is lying in state and the best you can do is try to demean (if you are serious) or make bad jokes (if you are not serious). Show some respect and leave this garbage until after the man has been properly mourned by his fellows and family.

Nothing illegal was done. Impeachment is only when the President has committed "high crimes or treason." Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it was a bad thing.
