I am leaving to go to Detroit during the auto show and i was wondering what you need to bring along to go through the tunnel.

It sounds like you are asking from the Canadian perspective. We were in Windsor for American Thanksgiving as my wife has family there. I actually got over AND back with just a Michigan driver's license (my wife had one also), however we did have some difficulty. I was told I also needed to have proof of citizenship (birth certificate, passport, etc.) in addition to a driver's license. We also went with a toddler, who had no documentation whatsoever and the border agent asked him if we were his parents, who he was going to see, etc.
If I was doing it again, I would bring birth certificates for all three of us and passports if you have them. A driver's license is also a good idea. I am assuming it works in pretty much the same fashion coming in from Canada. I hope this helps. Enjoy!

You need one picture Id and your birth certificate until the law changes Jan 1st, 2008 when you will need a passport

everyone coming and going into the USA ,Candana, and Mexcio will need a passport . (for air travel) in 2008 a it will be must to have a passport.
