a mate of mine is on holiday in spain. do you have to put in extra numbers because hes abroad. i ask this because he hasnt responded to my texts! unless hes having too much of a good time!

You text him the same way as you always do. The network knows where to route the text when he turns his mobile on and it registers to the network he's roaming on. If he is to text you back, he'll have to use the full +44 7etc etc to get back to you so he could be receiving your texts and you're just not getting his.

If you are texting him/her on an English mobile number then you just use the same number as usual, the system does the rest, but if he is abroad and he wants to text you then he must use the international codes , i.e. 00 44(take of first 0) 77xxxxxxxxx or +44 etc. After all that if he has turned off his phone the he will not get the messages anyway.

he needs to take the 0 off the front of your mobile number, and replace it with +44 ( or if he's too thick to figure out how to put the + in, use 0044) :-)
