When you are shopping for foundation makeup, put some in the place between your neck and face (jawline). It should look like you have nothing on. That way when you put foundation it wont look like you have a mask on. It is ugly to see a person with her face and neck in different tones. By the way I use Clinique foundation and it is great.

The match will never be perfect unless it's made especially for you, that would usually involve mixing two shades together.
But since you're probably going to buy one from a shop etc.. then you pick the shade that would look best.
Clinique are an ok brand.
Sometimes your own advice is better than theirs. Not all shop assistants/people that advise others on make up are good, and in most cases even their own make-up doesn't look that great.
Try dior.

the first step is to match it to your skin. If you are not a pro at matching just yet then I will advise you not to go to the local drug store and buy the foundation you can not test. You need to go to the mall and talk with a consultant who will be able to test different matches to your skin.
For a first timer I would recommend going to Persciptives. they mix colors so that it matches your skin. And then they name it after you. So when you go back you know exactly what you need to get.

I strongly recommend switching to Prescriptives - their Colorprint system is foolproof (when done by someone very knowledgable at the counter). They match your coloring under one of the four following categories: Red/Orange, Yellow/Orange, Red/Red, or Blue/Red. Once Colorprinted and with the right formula, you won't get that telltale foundation line where your jawline meets your neck.

most foundation come with a chart that u could put againts ur skin to help u tell which one will suit u best. If these makeups have that then they are probably a better quality make-up.
