The rotors started warping at about 20K, but the pad are fine. What could be causing this?

What's the problem?
My parents have a 04 GTP that the abs light would just come on at random times for no reason. No one, not even the dealership could figure that one out. It would do that for about 6 months and then it just stopped and they haven't had a problem in over 1 year.

Riding the brakes too damn hard. I bought and drove an 01 Grand Prix GTP for five years, and finally sold it because I am overseas now. But the only problem that car ever had was a wheel bearing that went bad. And, that was at 60K.

My family has had a Pontiac in different models my entire life and a couple of Gran Prix's. I currently have a G6. Brakes are horrible on these cars and will certainly cost you when purchasing them. About every 5,000 miles plan on doing some replacement of brake pads or other braking system on the car. Just they great engineering of the car. I have heard of this in many of these cars.

Rotors warp from excessive heat, and 'possibly' from uneven torque across your lug nuts.

BTW, our friend who claims that G6s wear out pads every 5k isn't 100% right. I have customers who wear them out very quickly, and some who get more than 20K out of them. It all comes down to driving style and the kind of roads you travel on.

My guess is uneven torque between the lug nuts. Whoever put the wheels on last might have made some lug nuts tighter than others which could cause warping
