i'm assuming since this is in the comics and animation section the term "space cowboy" refers to a japanese anime called cowboy bebop. the term refers to bounty hunters from a future time when space travel is commonplace. the main characters are exactly that, space cowboys, and every episode ended with the farewell of "see you next time space cowboy".
if you are at all into anime this series is HIGHLY recommended.
