Now I am going to say this and it does NOT apply to ALL women, only SOME, but maybe it will bring some understanding to why SOME women are not treated equally in the workplace. (I get paid the same as my male counterparts and even get to be involved mroe with special projects, only due to the fact that I do my work and dont complain and get crap done).

We have this lady at work, who is always out due to her kid, no problem right, then when she is here she is always on her cell phone on personal calls, she comes in late all the time. Then when she gets behid she goes and cries to our manager, literally cries with tears and gives some lame excuse why she cant get her work caught up. Now tell me she should be paid the same as the rest of us or even get to keep her job?

No, she shouldn't. She should be getting a pay cut or even not be allowed to use her cell phone at work if it's causing this much of a problem. It sounds depressing too. How can she really be trusted or anything if she acts like this? She really shouldn't be a mother if she isn't mature enough to handle a job.

She shouldn't get paid the same....and frankly, she shouldn't have her job. Maybe it's time for her to get fired. That behavior is unprofessional and not acceptable at all.

Woman who do the work, the same as the men, should get paid the same. Those who don't, shouldn't.

You get both male and female shirkers in the workplace and it should be upto the management to deal with them. Equally, of course. People should be paid according to the work they do, not just just for turning up. I see injustice of this type in my office and it does wind people up.

There are about a dozen people like that in my workplace, too, and some even get paid more than me! Its totally not fair. Why should she even get to keep her job if she isn't even working?

I understand (same problem with a whining male coworker) sick days by the bucket and habitually works 6 hours days with 90 minute lunches. I'm hoping my problem gets canned. Do not allow the bum to get any credit for your efforts (document everything)

It's clearly not because she's a woman, it's because she's an ***. There are plenty of bad employees that are men. It's kind of sad that you see this as a reason why someone would judge all women based on the actions of just a few.

No, and that would apply to your description if it was a he instead of a she, as well. People should be paid equally for the same work.

I don't see why she should be held on the same level as you or any other responsible adult in the work place. If I were in a position to affect change, I'd certainly see to it that her habits change.

By what you say, she doesn't seem very productive and is probably costing the company more money to keep her as an employee as opposed to firing her. I would let her go, but that's just my opinion.

amen sister!

I have the same argument.. I sit and do my work all day, don't use my cell phone, show up early... leave late.... tell me why there are two people that get paid more than me, and all they do is sit and chat all day on their phone or with other employees, and come in late, call in sick all the time, leave early. WTF!?!
