How many people are on your connection? Premium dsl can handle intense use by like five people at a time, probably more. T3's will like handle an entire floor of an office building +.
What is th technical difference, I think t3 is more of a fiber connection where as dsl just uses one pair of wires from a cat 3 or 5 or even 6 cable.

A T3 circuit runs at 45 mbps. It's generally used by large businesses and small ISPs for network connnections which may or may not include internet connections. Cost is typically $5k - $25k per month. It is available anywhere that a phone line can be pulled (although it does not run on phone lines).

Cable is supplied by the local cable TV carrier. Speeds typically run around 2 - 10 mbps depending upon the provider. Cost is typically $35 - $75 per month. Availability is limited to the local cable company's loop.

DSL runs on ordinary phone lines. Speeds typically run between 768 kbps - 6 mbps. Cost typically runs between $15 - $50 per month. Availability is limited to 3 "wire miles" of the telco's central office.

The speed of the internet.
Typcial cable can be anywhere from 1.3 to 1.7 mbps download. T3 is above 3.0 mbps, and DSL can run from 1.2 mbps to 5.0 mbps, and sometimes higher.
All in all, cable is mostly the fastest connection, and that is where you can obtain T3 speeds and higher.
