what do I do? I just got served papers yesterday, court is on the 2nd. I called so many attorneys, most just happen to be on vacation for the holidays, except for his!!! A temp, restraining order has even been issued and I feel like my hands are tied!!! I was never informed of anything to contest this part, because there is no reason for the order, it is just out of plain, meanness on my ex's part. I would do anything for my 2 children, They have always lived with me. Its only now when I am in weak position, that I feel useless and I can't lose my kids!!! Does any one know of anything I can do????

You must get an attorney. In the meantime,
1) I would send a letter to the court/judge requesting more time to find an attorney.
2) Call your local Bar Association and ask where you can get Counsel and state your financial condition.
3) Call the Clerk of Court and ask them what you should do until you get a attorney.

Don't give up. You must act now.

Honestly right now you are stuck. Until your court date you should abbide by the court order. Once court comes you will have your time to speak to the judge, then the case will be postponed for you to get a lawyer. Probably your ex husband will get temporary custody of the kids. Do you even know the basis of this suit?
Now in the mean time you better get some sort of job. You can't take care of kids without money! Is your home stable? Have you shuffeled your kids around? Does a man live with you, to whom you aren't married to?
As far as attorneys go, most are on vacation. If you look in the phone book there should be a section on legal advise. Try there.

First & for most... The court docket equipment sucks!! a million) you want to coach to the courts that he did not take advantage of the time he replaced into giving 2) coach that dad did not not attend any college purposes (IE; parent /instructor conferences and so on) 3) coach that dad replaced into not lively in his extracurricular activities (IE: activities, fundraisers, boy scouts you recognize) which could help set up a structure with you & lack of participation on dad's section & very last yet not least.. 4) have a valid reason you're shifting (IE: promoting, more beneficial pastime ) @ 13 each from time to time they take the toddler's opinion into interest ~ possibly a letter to the decide out of your son would help. good success

Call the Social Services Department and get the phone number for the Free Legal Aid Clinic in your state/town. There are a lot of women's support groups as well who may be able to help you.

Good luck.

find a public defender or someone that will work pro bono for you. maybe if you can't find someone by the time you have to go to court, you can tell the judge and the court will find someone for you. but i don't know how that works, i have never been in a custody battle before.

Can you support your children without a job? Is their father going to treat them bad? Why shouldn't he have temp custody?
