Considering what an 18 year old would want to do, is probably completely different then what their parents might want to do.
For example, as an 18 year old guy, I just wanted to spend some quiet, quality time alone with my girlfriend. As a parent, I would want to spring for a dinner...could be a cookout at home or a trip to some place like a Fuddruckers; then maybe a movie... a sporting event...or a concert.

House Party!!! tell the parents you want them to go to dinner and see a movie and then give the house to the 18 year old and allow them to have over as many friends as they want(obviously they won't have over 150 people)..no randoms ..and they'll have the best time. And of course they have to clean the house afterwards. It's fair, special and oh so much fun

Depends on what you and your friend's enjoy doing. Write a list of things you like to dao and have your closest friend's do the same. My suggestion is to have your closest friedn's assist you in planning the party so you don't have to feel like your not entertaining everyone. It's your birthday. The only thing you should be thinking of is having fun. Unless the party is for someone else and then get their and their friedn's opinions as to what they would like to (legal) of course.

This may sound a bit antiquated but how about a good old fashioned scavenger hunt. Make a list of things to go outside and find and see who comes back with all of them first.
