I currently have my modem connected to a router and to my computer and it works fine. Now when I try to connect my modem DIRECTLY to my computer a popup saying "...Limited or no connectivity" appears, why is that and now i can access the internet???

change ur ip address of ur router by typing 192.168.1.1 in ur browser.
then go to start--> run-->cmd-->type ipconfig/renew

make sure you are unplugging the modem for 20 seconds from the wall before you change where it is connecting. It is still picking up info from the first connection. If you turn the power all the way off to it by unplugging it from the wall, it will refresh all the number settings it has and then it will connect to your computer. When/if you want to put it back, you need to unplug it again to reset the numbers again.
