No, animals are not hurt. Animals are trained to do things in movies. I know a person that used to train animals and do the stunt work in movies. I haven't seen that movie but the horse was probably trained to fall down on cue in a way that would not harm the animal. EIther that or some computer work was done to achieve what they wanted. Also I believe the Humane society is on hand all through filming to make sure animals don't get hurt.

a lot of times it's a fake animal or it's computer generated. for horses falling when shot, i think they have padding. they've been doing this in movies for years so they know how to do it. also there;s someone from an animal protection group supervising that sort of thing. that's why you see "no animals were harmed in the making of this motion picture" (or whatever) & the symbol of the humane society at the end of the credits.

the way they used to get a horse to fall was to trip it with wires. not sure if this is still the case. these things are now heavily watched by animal rights groups...understandably, as horses (as this is the example we're using) were largely overworked to the point of exhaustion...some i think died as a result. sad. today's standards are MUCH higher and usually in the case of a big battle scene they use computers to make it look like there are more or splice two cuts together to look like one

Like some of people have already mention. No. They used computer. Though that not always the case for some different part of the world. They actually used animal and hurt them. Some might even end up dead.

No,there must be a representative of the SPCA,onsite whenever they are filming animals.Check out "Braveheart"during a battle scene you see horses charging the line of pikes. Those were mechanical horses on a track system.

Well a lot of training goes into it and also with computer animation so advanced this is an easy feat..If the producers or directors really hurt an animal PETA would be all over them...

horses falling over are trained to do so. every animal on a movie is fully protected by rights to not be harmed (of course to some extent). also, many times fake animals are used to still get gruesome and aweing effects.
