When you set up the iPods on the computer, there are a few things to remember...

1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes
2. Sync each iPod to the computer, but give each a new name.
3. Create a primary playlist for each iPod.
4. Set each iPod to sync to the specific playlist and not the main music playlist/library.
5. Apple's website can show you other tricks for using more than one iPod on the same computer.

Each ipod should have each own individual name.
When you connect one, you see its name in iTunes (below your Library).
If you have multiple USB ports, you can actually connect multiple iPods. Think of iPods as hard drives, each one with its own name.
