You clealry stated your own answer. 2700, when you go to buy a RAM, make sure it says 2700 on the pacakge. For example, 2GB 2700. But if you really want to make sure, best buy can find it for you for free if you take you computer to there geek squad.

Check the documentation that came with the system to see if they included any details on the motherboard specs as to the type of RAM it takes.

They might have that info on the manufacturer's web site if you look up the specs on your particular model of emachine.

If you don't know how to open up your system and examine the RAM chip itself, you can always go to a computer store and see if they could look up the info for you for that particular model of emachine (telling them you want to buy more RAM) or bring the PC in with you so they can crack it open and check.

A computer shop should be able to tell you.

If you can find the model number on your machine, you should be able to find it by looking up your machine on www.emachines.com
