We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

The point is why let Gore, Kennedy and Clinton off the hook as "victims of bad intelligence" yet hold Bush personally responsible for the same intelligence. You really should lay off the "Bush Lied about WMD" comments.

What about the quotes before Bush was President? Bush used the intelligence that was there before and after his Presidency began.

The big difference is that Bush was given differing information and refused to accept it, and the Clinton Administration didn't invade Iraq.

It's not just the information, but what was done with it. Bush also made up some stuff to make it look like Iraq was going to use his weapons on US, yes the weapons that he did destroy in compliance with the UN sanctions.

Bush also tried to link Saddam and 9/11, a link that never materialized. Another misleading piece of information the Bush folks are 100% responsible for.

When Bush says it, it's a lie.

When a Democrat says it, it's not.

(sarcasm)

The Democrats had the same reports Bush had.

And the Clinton administration was saying these things back in 1998, before Bush even ran for president!

While I am not a Democrat, my response to those quotes is as follows:

What does it say about your political maturity that you seem to think partisan politics can be held up as an excuse for a disastrous foreign policy mistake that has cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians? Simply because representatives of the other side were wrong does not excuse the actions of those who were in charge at the time. Democrats who continue to support the war effort will reap the consequences, and in many cases already have.

As far as WMD go, they probably knew he had them at one time because Reagan and the Republicans sold them to him (Saddam). Whether he had any left after inspections is another question.

They were victims of the same bad intelligence that the Bush people were too eager to believe. This does not get the Bushies off the hook! And at least the Democrats were able to admit the defect, while the Republicans went on pretending they were infallible.

They were all accurate quotes given the information at the time...now we know the information was incorrect and/or flawed, so they have not cut and run like someone else suggested they have just revised their opinions given accurate information.....

Talk is cheap. War is not.

What information were the Democrats given at the time of those quotes? Information that the Republicans gave them. If someone told you that Bob Geldof was dead, someone who was supposed to be trustworthy and reliable (i.e. the government) you would have no reason to doubt them. It was only after a long period of time that the Republican lies and misinformation about Iraq came to light - and the Democrats were able to have their eyes opened.

I'm not a Democrat, but it appears to me that these people read the same manufactured intelligence that the Bush Administration gave to every one else to convince them to vote for war.

Pretty obvious.
