Why are some people opposed to abortion, and NOT opposed to the death penalty? It's still murder!

And OTHER people are opposed to the death penalty, but have nothing against abortion.

I did some research and I found that it costs MORE to keep someone in death row than to keep them in solitary confinement for life. So why do we still do it? They're getting out of it easy!

Well what if they had the wrong man and they kill HIM instead.

Then the family of the innocent (and dead) man have to suffer, and the man who did it has either A) escape or B) get killed raising taxes....

because babies are innocent beings, who aren't even given a chance to live their little lives. Whereas the death penalty kills horrible people who commit horendous crimes. Is it that hard to see?
(I'm actually against both, but I see where pro- death penalty people are coming from)

(1) Some people are opposed to abortion because the person choosing it had killed a person who had no chance at life. These same people are not opposed to the death penalty because the person had a chance at life and screwed it up; the death penalty is the only option. (2) People opposed to the death penalty can have many reasons: (a) someone they know and love is facing it, (b) someone, the oposition feels, didn't get fair judicial treatment, (c) these people would let something equivalent to Satan live if they could. These same people have nothing against abortion because they feel that an embryo becomes a human at only a certain stage of development. They don't view them as a human being from the moment of first development. I think that abortion should only be done if it will harm the woman's health if it isn't done or, beyond the shadow of a doubt, doctors can prove the baby will be stillborn. As for the death penalty, I say go for it.

If a dirt bag came into my home during the holidays and stabbed several of my family members to death I wouldn't hesitate to kill that person immediately instead of providing food and shelter in prison or on death row. On the other hand an innocent unborn child waiting to be born is guilty of nothing. The baby is only unfortunate to have a mother and some sadistic doctor that cares less about it's life.
The same people that protest the death sentence would most likely take a gun a kill a person that was murdering one of their children. They would issue instant justice and carry out the sentence themselves. It's easy for them to oppose the death penalty when they live safe and sound in their cozy little homes. I can't imagine someone who opposes the death penalty wanting to forgive a murderous pig like Jeffrey Dahmer who committed heinous acts of necrophilia, dismemberment and cannibalism.

The Death Penalty is punishment for having been convicted of a henious crime. From the start, the individual is presumed innocent until found guilty. After being found guilty, there are several appeal and review processes to ensure the individual got a fair trial and didn't have his rights violated.

An unborn baby has done nothing wrong and has no appeal rights and no representation. Each year, there are many thousands of abortions - and about 100 people sentenced to death. Show me the justice there?

I have never met anyone who opposes killing human beings in every single instance. Self-defense, for one!

So we weigh the interest in human life against other values and concerns we have. We kill in wars, we have the death penalty, and we have abortion. Some justify one or more of these by pointing to the other values we uphold by allowing the killing. For instance, ridding a society of a bad person, or a woman having control over her body. We each make up our own minds.

We all draw lines. Even if we disagree on the issues, we are all applying the same test.

And we all favor SOME killing. You can dress it up in semantics, but it's true.

Abortion is the killing of an innocent child that has done nothing to merit that killing. The death penalty is for crimes that have been committed, where the person has been found guilty by a court of law. It is not murder to have somebody put to death in payment for his crimes, but it is murder to kill an innocent.

Also, while it does cost more to keep somebody on death row than to keep them in prison for life, it is because of what we have done in society that this is true. If we had the same thing that Iraq has as far as putting to death within 30 days of the one mandatory appeal, you would find the cost going down for those on death row.

I believe neither of them should be practiced. Abortion: even though a fetus cannot talk, nor is fully formed, they still feel. It's a leaving being. Death Penalty: you judge someone for being bad; for murdering, etc. and you do the same thing to the person, if you do so, you should be given the death penalty for murdering too, cause that is exactly what your doing. I believe we can jail someone but not kill them. Remember about judgment day.

Forced pregnancy(pro life) is a weapon to subjugate women into dependence and frequently poverty. I believe abortion and death penalty are beneficial to society. It is absolutely critical that killing is permitted and even mandated for any society to survive. Lions and wolves kill innocent victims as a way of their life. And people encourage that all the time.

that's retarded I'm opposed to abortion because you are killing a kid that is about to be born I'm for the death penalty because we are killing a person that goes around killing innocent people and they must be punished

The Death Penalty is a blight on civilization. As long as the State condones murder as a way to solve differences, we cannot expect those who reside in that State to do otherwise.
