Liquid cleaners like Mr Clean or **** and Span work remarkably well for dirt and soap scum, leaving the tub shiney with little effort and very little scrubbing with a brush. Do it weekly (or more often if several people use the tub) and it won't be a chore.

You may have a soap scum or lime buildup on the tub or the finish as been scratched by previous scrubbings with more abrasive cleaners. First try a lime deposit removing cleaner....LimeAway Bathroom Cleaner or whatever it is called. You'll have to let it sit a bit and scrub with a nylon scrubber or something similar. Hopefully this will show you if the problem is just with lime and soap scum or the surface has been scratched. Not much to do about the scratches.

I agree with the other answer, those Magic Erasers are pretty good. You might also try baking soda and vinegar. It smells bad, but it works pretty well. I sprinkle baking soda all over the tub and have vinegar in a spray bottle. You spray the vinegar on the soda, and let it foam and set. After awhile, scrub it. It really works and it is not as harsh as those other cleaners.

good old ajax or comet and a scrubbie. I agree with you on the not having time just scrubbing a tub for a half hour!!! I also have a dispenser that you refill with scrubbing bubbles shower cleaner. It works great. I got it at walmart as a starter kit for like $15.00...

I use Tilex Soap Scum remover. You spray it and let it sit for a few minutes, then use a sponge soaked in it to scrub all surfaces (and I use the word "scrub" lightly, it wil not require any hard scrubbing at all!) and then rinse. It leaves my tub spotless!

you may want to allow the cleaner to sit longer....hour or two...and soak into the grime. You may need to deep clean this time...but next time should be better. I tend to spray Lysol all purpose cleaner in between cleanings...for an hour before a shower....to keep yucky stuff from sticking.

What ever you do dont use a metal scxrubbie on your tub...it will scratch the enamle and you will never be able to get it clean.

OH I FORGOT I HAD THIS STUFF.....ITS CALLED "ZAP!" .....WORKS TO GET GRIME OFF IN SECONDS.. YOU NEED RUBBER GLOVES TO USE...ITS STRONG

I like Tilex foaming tub scrub myself. It is wonderful! Just spray on, wait a few minutes, and then wipe. It is also good for the sink and comode too.

But remember to use the foam ~ Good luck!

I like to clean my tub with liguid detergent. Its a degreaser and work well for the pipes too. My husband like to use a product called Fabuloso but the scent is too strong for me, causes me to sneeze. but I must admit the bathrooms does feel fresh for a longer time.
