I find this question extremely sweet/cute. It's normal that you want to start dating and more than dating start hanging out with other guys/girls that share and understand your sexuality, but you must take it easy. And definitely take Lorenz advices plus, be carefully, not everybody out there are as nice or good persons as they look... once again, take your time.

Don't be in such a hurry to "find someone". Although it's a good idea to develope friendships w/ other gay people, you shouldn't be concerned about having a serious relationship at your age (are you really ready for it?) If your mind is made up that you just gotta get in there (dating/romance and sex) then take it slow and don't jump on the first person who shows interest in you...find someone who shares your beliefs, ideals and interests. Take it easy - there's nothing so special about turning 17 that makes being gay a requirement to get a bf. You've plenty time to develop into the man you want to be. You've plenty time to find the man you want to be with.
