You can go to the Dr. and tell him your symptoms, you sound as tho you might have ADD for which there is a medication you can take until you outgrow the disorder. People have this for years it goes untreated and that person looses a lot of validity in life. So don't be ashamed, just go. Good Luck!

I daydream a lot too, and ADD (attention deficit disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) both run in my family. It almost sounds like you have ADD, you have trouble concentrating, daydreaming, some things come slower, focusing is hard and stuff like that. If you had ADHD I could list off a bunch of prescriptions, but in my family ADD has never been bad enough for medication. If you also think you have ADD talk to your doctor and get a test and if it turns out positive ask him about any medications that will help you focus. Other than that I don't know. I hope I've been some kind of help.

I'm a day dreamer too. It has been a problem in jobs before because I can't concentrate. I find myself concentrating on things that aren't important to the job. I think part of it is being oversensitive to the things surrounding me. Plus a lot of the stuff you're "supposed" to be focused on is quite boring compared to the colorful, magical world of daydreams.
I guess the only thing you can do is find balance between the two. Don't overfocus on the day dream, but don't throw them away either, they are a big part of who you are. You're just a very creative person and eventually you can find a job where it's incorporated.

You should consider a job that requires no driving and relishes the qualities that you have. You could be one of those monks in the temple that sit and meditate all day. Then you wouldn't have to drive AND you could sit and daydream.

To be more aware, sharp and observant you can take the advice of others and seek medical attention.

OR

You can condition yourself. Sort of like the dog that salivatates when it hears the bell. Train yourself to focus using methods of reward when you do not drift off to your fog. Start slowly by rewarding yourself when you recongize that you are drifting. It will become habit after continual training. Then, start assigning tasks to yourself that require attention. Set a time limit and reward yourself each time you reach that goal without losing focus. Slowly increase the time to longer intervals. Rewarding yourself accordingly. Eventually you will train your mind to stay put when you assign it to something.

You might be lacking motivations.... or you simply need to get a tighter hold of yourself... when you have goals, you would want to focus... focussing is the trick actually, I used to day dream alot but nowthat I have my motivations...its easier to "learn"....

In you case... Im not sure whether your not excited to learn to drive or simply is being forced to learned.... nevertheless... FOCUS!

I think you have a real problem and I would suggest you go see a shrink or some other type of doctor. Sounds like you might have some type of mental illness.

Don't drive, for starters. And from there, I would stop using it as an excuse to avoid joining society. I have an active mind and it doesn't hinder me. I think your main problem is the epidemic known as dumbass, for which there is no cure.
