a paper bag and an iron. Just put the paper bag over the wax and run the hot iron over it. the wax will melt and stick to the bag. getting orange juice out of a wool/silk rug is a whole different story.

For the carpet , put cubes of ice on the wax and when it is really hard, chip off as much as you can BEFORE doing any of the above recommended things otherwise it will spread the stain .The more absorbent the paper, the better but watch the heat of your iron as, if your carpet is a man made textile material, it will melt at too high a temperature. Kitchen paper towels are good as they are extremely absorbent. Keep applying the tip of the iron on fresh sheets till the paper shows no more staining. Then clean with your usual carpet cleaner to lift any residue. (Beware paper bags as many are coated with a glossy substance that makes them waterproof and therefore non-absorbent).
Whatever you do, do NOT follow any of the above advice for the sandstone, as it will make matters worse. Sandstone is extremely absorbent, the heat will melt the wax but it may spread it as well, and the stain may be impossible to shift. Try the ice cubes scrapping as much candle wax as you can, allow to dry, then apply a cleaning product like "White Wizard" (from Lakeland ,or Kleeeze) with a soft absorbent cloth going towards the centre of the stain to avoid spreading it. Good luck!

the best way i found to get wax off of something is to freeze it. I suggest putting an ice cube on it to get it very cold, then it usually pops off pretty fast. I know it sounds crazy!. THis is also a great solution for candle holders that have that left over candle wax in them, pop them in the frezzer and the wax usually just pops right out in one peice.

Wait until it is hard, then scrape off as much as possible. Cover the remains with kitchen paper and press with the tip of a warm iron. The wax will melt and be absorbed by the paper.

Brown paper bag over the wax spill, warm to hot iron.Pass the iron over a couple of times and the warm wax will melt into the paper bag. Works every time. Please make sure the iron barely goes over carpet if it is made of synthetic fibers. or you will melt the carpet.

put a piece of paper over the wax, and rub it with a hot iron for a couple seconds. the wax will melt and get sucked into the paper.

call in a professional! that's a hard one. if it were close no problem, just but newspaper on top and iron it. the newspaper would soak up the wax. don't know about the rug. unless you try really hot water to soften it and try to pull or brush it out
