Not advisable. You never know who you are talking to on the internet. In 10 minutes I could set up a myspace profile that says I'm a 13 yr old girl, a 25 yr old Russian guy, or whatever I think you want to see. The internet is NOT the place for teens to meet teens, because you never know for sure. I know MANY adults who have made this mistake, and had BIG TIME problems.

No, not at all. I would like to tell here about one of my school friend who displayed her number on one of the very popular site. She started getting calls from some anonymous person from the same phone no. The guy kept on talking to her with different names and that too the names of her own friends. This all continued for 6 months and ended up recently when she told me about this and i called on that number to enquire who that guy was.

In your case, i don't think there is any need to share your phone no. Even if you people want to meet each other, you can fix the meeting online only and once when you people meet each other and know each other well, there is not an issue in exchanging phone nos.

if you need to ask this, then the answer is no - merely by asking us suggests doubt on your part so it's safer to err on the side of caution than risk it by giving your personal contact details to someone you will never truly know as a person.

especially so since there are many anonymous alternatives to the telephone like using a microphone or webcam to chat over yahoo or msn messenger without giving away any personal information.

i don't even provide my phone number to online retailers let alone anyone i talk to online - the only people who get my name, address, or phone number are people i've met face to face.

Do NOT give your phone number to a friend you have met online, or to anyone for that matter. They could always be pretending to be someone else and by giving out any personal details you are putting yourself in danger.

Take my advice, don't do it.

It depends on how u consider him to be....
I got a friend online... we haven't met till now... but we r each other's best friends....

so i suggest u to seriously think before giving him ur phone number....First thing i'm not getting whether u r a girl or a boy... so ..its a bit tough to say....

check this....
i don't mean u r dating ur friend but this is how the trend usually goes on for online friends.....

n dats the reason i've stopped making online friends long back coz none of them r real n truthful

n e way... finally i leave it to u...
u decide it depending on ur intimacy with ur friend.......

depending on how long you have been talking, ask your parents, they liable to know the right time or not,if you get it past them, and you got them as chaperone's just to be on the safe side, yes.
this under the assumption you are underage,if not i apologize,i would suggest care full scrutiny and a very twitchy nose before contemplating to do it,,give them a cell nr on a brand new starter pack, know worries they bother you on your original nr,especially if you have them only call at prearranged date and time, giving you ample opportunity to swap simcards.
