Well, do you think heavy construction and road work will be booming? Then check out Terex (TEX), they make some of those big earth scrapers and loaders and cranes you see in highway and big building construction. They've had some good earnings reports out recently and made a steady price runup, but I don't know how long that will continue before a "correction" jogs the trend. Give it a look.

Take a look at Amerisafe (AMSF). Its no rocket but seems to have some good financials, check its return on equity and distinctly upward trend.

I've got some of my own money in Gateway (GTW) (in hopes that some new management and Christmas sales will help that number 3 domestic personal computer maker improve its fortunes--and mine). I also have some in Unisys (UIS), which has some rather steady computer services contracts and has been steadily improving their bottom line.

Take a look, but of course decide for your own reasons. (Hint, and plan an exit strategy, both high and low)

It's not high-tech or glamorous, but I like Exxon. Pays a dividend, goes up every year, and no one seems to be selling their SUVs anytime soon. A year ago, it was at $57 a share, now it's at $77, so with the dividend, you would have made more than 33% on your money. Not bad, and low risk. Also, if you invest $250 with them, you can get automatic reinvestment on your dividends, buy partial shares, and you can send them $50 or more any time you want. If you always send them the same amount, you automatically buy more when it's low and less when it's high, so you get dollar-cost averaging without having to think about it.
