My first reaction was "oh no this is only going to cause a bigger uproar." Then I thought it might actually help us out a great deal. I think a lot of people over there need to see for themselves that times have changed, and a public hanging is a good way to show that. Maybe with him dead, a lot of his supporters will loose the will to fight.

Staphanie: If they hate us so much... why do they attack each other instead of American Forces? Have you ever thought you might be projecting your own hatred? There just doesn't seem to be much evidence that Iraqis hate us as a whole.

Some think civil war. What would be wrong with that? Have them kill each other and then we could go back in and channel the winning team to our specifications and ideas. We should give arms to all sides so it won't take too long. By helping all sides we would be supporting the winning team. Just pull our troops back to a neighboring area and let them duke it out. I think it should be televised world wide. There is some talk of getting cold feet and not letting the US turn over Saddam to the Iraqi government for the execution.

The old Saddam supporters will be upset and I'm sure Iran will fuel that anger, so there will probably be violence in some areas.

In other areas, I think Iraqi's will be joyous. Many are still scared that something will go wrong and Saddam will be placed back in power and then there would be hell to pay.
With Saddam gone, I think it will show the Iraqi's that Iraq can truly be free and they have no fear of repercussions from Saddam.

we need more public hangings like in the old days. Mixed reaction, they're probably surprised he didn't get his head chopped off the first day (we did attempt to bomb him). i don't think anyone fighting today is fighting for saddam. No one fights for others least of all him, he really wasn't a beloved guy to start with. fight for life, money, liberty, anger, glory, chicks, not saddam.

I certainly don't think a public hanging will convince them that anything has changed. It is undeniably another method of using fear and violence to control and suppress them.

This might actually unite the Iraqi people if just temporarily in attacking U.S. troops. Its very obvious Bush hates our troops and America.

Hundreds of Iraqi citizens have volunteered to be the hangman... The insurgents on the other hand will use it to their advantage.... Maybe his death will give courage to the Iraqi people and they will begin to assist in their fight for freedom..

Who knows what the reaction will be? No body does, for years people in this country believe that they are able to gauge what people in the Middle East think.
