You need to go checked out make sure you are healthy enough to take the pill. then if you get them you have to buy them every month, I recommend Sams Club or Costco,. Its about 35 bucks a pop. Also make sure you take them every night or whenever your doctor tells you BUT TAKE THEM EVERYDAY!!! then if you dont you will be late and it really scares your for that time you are late. But to finish your answer yes you do need a prescription and they usually give it to you once every year for a years supply.

No you don't have too. You can go to a pregnancy clinic and get them without a pap smear, however, a pap is recommended for all women annually. Maybe even your primary doc will give you an RX without asking you to go to a gynecologist. If you are young, and just trying to do the right thing and protect yourself from becoming pregnant, and afraid of the pelvic exam, there are doctors out there who will respect that. Just remember, its best to get a pelvic exam once a year. Its not bad. My daughter was terrified and when it was over she said it was not at all what she anticipated. Also, the prescription is usually written for a year supply of pills. Hope this helps. Try your local county clinic too see if they offer pregnancy prevention support.

A gynecologist will usually insist on examining you before prescribing any type of birth control. It is recommended that you get a pap/pelvic exam done at least once a year. My doctor writes my BCP prescription for at least 10 refills to last me until my next scheduled appt. Ask for samples of the BCP you are being prescribed if possible to save money.

to go on prescription birth control you will need to go to a gynecologist and have a pelvic exam and a pap test. once that is done and all OK, then you will get a years prescription for whatever method you and your Dr decide to put you on, the pill, patch or whatever. before the end of the year you will have to go back and get another exam for them to re new your Rx.

It's a good idea to have a pelvic exam at the beginning and no, you do not need or get one every time you get a new monthly supply.

You'll need a PAP Smear in order to go on birth control. After that, you'll need to return annually for another check-up and PAP Smear. Even if you are not going on B/C you should be getting yearly exams because of the risk of cancer and other problems.

I know you don't have to get one everytime you get new pills you should only have to get one once a year, but depending on your doctor, how sexually active you are, and if you've ever had one before you may or may not have to have one before getting the prescription. Call your doctor and find out.

Usually they give you the first month's worth of pills and then you go back two weeks later for the examination. After that they give you a year's supply and you only have to get an examination once every year.

they'll schedule you for an exam sometime in the first few months of taking the pills, then you'll have to get another one every year after that.
