They say it promotes witchcraft, but if a child is smart enough to know that it's not real, and only just a story, why do most Christians hate it? IT IS NOT DEVIL WORSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Devil is never actually mentioned in Harry Potter at all.

I don't really understand this either, but you've got your religious nuts out there that believe that anything that doesn't have to do with God is not worth their time. I believe in God and am a really devoted Christian, but I am a Harry Potter FREAK, but I guess its all in how you're raised.

DON'T say "most christians" because I simply don't think that it is the majority, it is a whiny minority that think its evil. I am a mormon and I have only heard of one person in my church that won't let her kids read it because she thinks it promotes witchcraft, and she was an idiot. I laughed very hard at the look on her face when our bishop said he loved the new movie.

PS- the Washington Post decided that the stupidest person of 2006 was a woman that tried (unsuccessfuly) to get Harry Potter books banned from Georgia schools.

They are just too busy looking for the next evil thing that they don't bother to see what they are complaining about. It's entertaining and fun for kids. Why stop that. I am a strong christian and I love the books as does my son. If my son wants to read a book instead of playing video games, I am not going to stop him (within reason). People are too scared that kids are going to get warped by books like HP. They don't trust that their kids are smart enough to know the difference between real and make believe.

You say "most Christians", but that's not the facts at all. Most Christians do allow their children to read and watch a fantasy novel and do see that although Potter is a witch, they all seem to celebrate Christmas in each book, including the "evil" witches. Although some may have a very very very loud voice to oppose it, do you know any Christian parents personally that say "no". Those theatres are packed, those books are sold in the millions, those toys and games disappear from shelves .... think about it.

Ironic how everyone now a days calls them selves Christians just because they go to church a few hours on Sunday and live the rest of the week not following any of Gods laws.....they drink, they swear, they cheat, lie, commit adultery physically and emotionally and so on.....if any of you were true bible believing Christians you would see that polluting your mind with witch craft and others is not what God's purpose is for you.

Books/movies like Harry Potter depict an alternate reality from the one they believe in, so they reject them as blasphemy. You can be sure that Muslim extremists, Jewish extremists, and Christian extremists all share the same basic fear. They fear that their religion might be shown to not be the one true religion.

Statistically, they're right to worry that they're not practicing the 'true' religion. There can only be one most correct (none can be 100% accurate) religion, and there are at least billions of possible religious beliefs. Odds are that they're all wrong, and that upsets a lot of people.

I'm a christian and i don't hate it i believe that everyone has the right to see what they want to see. Just because i don't like it it doesn't meant I'm going to be saying bad stuff about it. But then again that's my opinion.

Because they are too wrapped up in their own little world and always on the lookout for something or someone to judge, even though, mind you, that their own Bible tells them not to judge. They're so busy believing in sky gods and winged beings that anything that remotely reminds them of evil, they scream Satan.

And so is the way with them and Harry Potter.
