The rest of the world strongly dislikes the US due to Bush's policies. They are NOT blind--they see right through him. The problem has been made worse by the fact that he has been reelected despite how bad he his--thus laying the blame firmly on the American people, not just him.
The rest of the world thought much more highly of the US during the Clinton years, because Clinton generally worked with others to find the best solutions, whereas Bush just does whatever he wants. World opinion surveys verify this.

Yes, I confess, I have been blinded to Bush's madness by the following:
1. Best Economy on the planet - EVER.
2. No domestic terrorism in the US since 9/11.
3. Lower taxes.
4. Shrinking deficit despite massive hurricanes and two wars Clinton never faced.
Yeah besides all that incredibly great stuff, Bush has totally sucked. However could I have been so blind?

The answer is at least twofold: because the United States has the good old Bible Belt of the South, AND the greedy, self-centered, self-serving Republicans of America.
That equals A LOT of Americans.....unfortunately.

We have a press that is owned by the corporations that benefit from our horrible policies.
This is probably the case in other countries as well, but THEIR press is not owned by OUR corporations, and WE have the muscle to invoke our will pretty much worldwide. If you read foreign news sources, I think you will see how different they are. I like Sydney Morning Herald best
