Don't get too worried. Think of it this way...if it's something that you HAVE to have, the hospital will have it. If it's something you WANT to have, someone can go to your house/ go to the store and get it for you. That being said, here is a list of some things to bring...

Your Labor Bag

Tooth brushes for everyone and Tooth paste

Any reference book or pamphlet you might need

Pillows from home (Use colored cases to distinguish from your birth place's linens)

Music you would like (You may need to provide your own CD Player or Tape Player)

Camera with film and batteries

Camcorder with charged batteries and accessories

Any clothes of your own that you wish to wear

List of people to call after the baby is born

Lip Balm (trust me, your lips will get drive from breathing so hard)

Socks for mom

Special foods or drinks

Suckers or hard candy

Your Postpartum Bag

Nursing bras and pads

Going home outfit for baby

Blanket for Baby

More film

Another change of clothes for partner and any toiletries needed

Your own personal night gown, robe (They will get dirty!)

Personal Hygiene items (shampoo, your own pads, etc.)

Car Seat with instructions

Going home outfit for mom (You will still be look to be about 6 months pregnant. Most women where the clothes that they wore to the hospital, some bring nursing shirts.)

Congratulations and relax. Most of the stuff you will pack you'll find you don't actually use. And again, if it's important, the hospital will either have it or someone will get it for you. Just remember, the hospital is only on "lock down" to you for 48 hours...not everyone else. :)

car seat, a blanket for the baby, warm clothes for baby, diapers, wipes (some times they will supply you with them while you are in the hospital) a soft toy or rattle. a spare bottle a onsie, socks a hat for the head. Now for you wear the hospital gown they give you so that you can bleed all over that when you have the baby. Bring for you a change of clothes, pads high absorbancy, a book or something to read. A camera you don't want to miss a moment. There are some other things but it all depends on if you are taking the baby straight home when discharged or if you are going to take the baby to see family which probably you shouldn't do go home so the baby can be where they will grow up and you can get alot of rest..

You really don't need much. I didn't wear my own clothes while I was there b/c I was bleeding so much and kept leaking so I wore the gowns they give you. Take your shampoo, toothbrush and other personal items. Some magazines, etc. incase you are there a while before the action starts! Socks are important, who wants to walk around the hospital barefoot? Clothes for you and the baby to wear home and that is about it. Oh! Don't forget your camera. The hospital provides all the other stuff. Good luck on your big day!

I took a book, some clean socks and underwear, some maternity clothes (because your tummy is still big when you leave) some flip flops (the socks are too keep your feet warm in the hospital, the flip flops are for when you leave) a robe, whatever you are bringing baby home in, and thats it, You dont needa huge amount of stuff. The hospitals have a snack area for moms, so you dont need to bring any food and if you feel you need something afterwards, you will have a bajillion guests who can bring something if you ask. Good luck!

DEpending on the hospital most will provide you with stuff like diapers wipes a blanket any baby items needed during your stay. I packed all this stuff and never needed any of it, plus the diapers I brought would have be huge. Bring your cleaning stuff a going home outfit for you and baby. And stuff to do while in labor.

I just left the hopital three months ago and I only took a few things and some I didn't even use.

I took a robe, a maternity outfit, socks and sandals, toothbrush and toothpaste and a camera. I forgot to take shampoo and soap, so I just asked the nurse and she brought it to me. So don't forget stuff to take a shower. Oh and take lemon or orange suckers for labor (they really do work). I also took my own pillow, there is something about having your own pillow in a strange place.

Good luck!

I brought a bag so large and filled that 5 pregnant women could have shared it with me.

I wouldn't recommend it! I found that the things I needed were:

-the Brest Friend nursing pillow
-my own shampoo and make-up
-hair dryer
-my own underwear (still maternity)
-my own nightgown
-a couple of snacks and drinks for the husband
-a coming home outfit for baby (smaller than you'd think)
-camera
-video camera
-back up batteries for the above 2 items
-flashlight
-list of phone numbers of people to call

Most everything else in my bag went unused. We had an overweight bag that we trudged back home again.

Slippers or booties for your feet, bathrobe, if you are going to nurse, nursing gowns and bras, if not regular gowns and bras. Toothbrush, paste, face wash, cream, shampoo, conditioner, comb, brush, blow dryer. Make-up. If nursing, nursing pads for inside bra. Outfit to wear home. Large panties to hold pads, ones you don't mind throwing away. Shoes to wear home. Have car seat already in car...For baby. Outfit to wear home, blanket, bag with extra bottle, wipes, diaper, socks, extra bag to carry gifts home in...that's about all I can think of, the hospital will have the rest of things you will need. Maybe add a couple of heavy pads....Congratulations, enjoy the new one......Oh, how about some thank you cards for your alone time, so you can get ahead of the game.....Camera with extra batteries, and all the phone numbers you want to call.....
