Most women are naturally less hairy than men so at some point in history, or perhaps it happened gradually, the idea took hold that the more body hair a woman has, the less feminine she seems. So women dutifully shave their armpits, legs and anywhere else hair may be visible.

Woman aren't "supposed to"... butu that is what is pretty much normal and socially accepted in America...I think it is probably just because body hair is seen as more masculine, and females are viewed as relatively hairless beings. I would say that is the same reason most females shave their legs...it is a more soft and femanin look....But it really does depend on the culture...in some countries woman don't shave anything at all!

Because women look creepy with armpit hair, and men look like they've gone through puberty all the way with it, so men think it's cool. Apparently all of us women have to show it by our chest. Yes, it's weird and creepy, but it's true.

Because there are double standards in the USofA. You have noticed that women are expected to take the upmost care in their appearance, weight, etc.......Men can walk along with big bellies and **** bigger than mine and think THEY are the CATCH. Date em, don't marry em...If you marry them, not only do you have to smell their stinkin' armpits, and wash their underwear which ALWAYS has poop stains....and that's not to far from they want your mouth sister. Get a good education, and just date. That's when they are clean, nice, and usually spending their money!

why are people posting those stupid questions can no longer you think of of something that's greater clever than this. of path adult adult males do no longer shave their armpits. and a few women people do no longer the two. What difference does it make interior the better scheme of existence.

because men think they can look like cavemen and we should look **** and span.
or we can reverse this and say that we like to be nicely groomed while men like to look like dweebs all the time.
well ok now aside from my feminism looking at it psychologically or scientifically, men are associated with having more hair as a result of the testosterone and their overall male sexual qualities. what they dont understand is that after pubrt women grow hair too because in the slightest amount women have testosterone in them (gross-yeah because i dont like the thought of having male hormone in me at all) but it is true. And because of society's expectation/belief that girls should be hairless they shave their armpits plus many other places just to satisfy this expectation...a real hassle and tell me about it...comes with the privelage of being a lady : )

because more girls wear tanktops and stuff that show their armpits and it doesntg look appealing! Men they usually wear longer shirts that never show their armpits. ALso in mens world they think it looks sexy on them so yeah. Thats what i think.

it has just become a custom of sorts for women in America.
someone decided that it was the thing to do--and there you have it....it was a trend that stuck.
you do what is comfortable for you with your body hair. I will continue to shave.
