one day it decided not to work anymore. its in the laptop and the power light it on it but the link light isnt. and the little green box at the bottom right corner of the screen is grey. is it the adaptor? should i buy a new one and see if that one works?

What O/S are you running and what service pack level ? Windows XP SP2, MAC O/S, etc
What make and model of laptop and wireless adaptor are you using?
Have you tried reseating the wirless adapter if its the PCMCIA kind?

Probably is yoru router...sometimes the router doesn't respond because it's not getting any internet connection. Check yoru router, or call your internet company and ask if you internet is working properly.
