I've got to say that the nautical mile (6076 feet) would apply.
The asker clearly stated "biggest unit in the world". As a parsec and multiples of a parsec exceed the size of planet earth, the largest unit of measure on earth must be the answer.

The Parsec, which is a little more than 3¼ light years, or 3.1 x 10^13 kilometers. Read about it here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parsec
From the basic parsec, then, we can have kiloparsecs (thousands of parsecs), megaparsecs (millions of parsecs), and gigaparsecs (billions of parsecs) . . . and even more if we need it.

I don't know if it's the BIGGEST, but the parsec is 3.3 light years, so it's at least BIGGER than a light year.
As for Louis' suggestion, yeah, I guess the megaparsec would be bigger, but if you're going to allow prefixes, then the gigaparsec, teraparsec, exaparsec, zettaparsec, and yottaparsec would be even bigger. ;)

megaparsec :
the megaparsec is used by astronomers studying the most distant quasars and galaxies. One megaparsec equals one million parsecs, 3.2616 million light years or 30.857 x 1018 kilometers (30.857 zettameters).
