I prefer to think of myself as self-confident. I've found that a certain degree of competence helps.

Being arrogant is different from high self-esteem. Arrogance concerns an overbearing attitude of extreme superiority complex with undue claims; while high self esteem is holding good opinion of one's self , but not demeaning or belittling others. Self esteem is a positive trait while arrogance is not.

I'm self-confident and NOT arrogant at all -- for I've had a long, long life, survived a brutal short disaster of a marriage (to a violent, abusive ex -- and one convicted of abusing my children as well as abused me), raised my two children MY SELF, and have spent the vast amount of my life as a SINGLE ... so that is what I know best, and when I go out and confidently tackle the next challenge in front of me ... some may think it is arrogant ... for me, it is REAL LIFE ... I HAVE to take care of my own RESPONSIBILITIES because there is NO ONE ELSE ...

A lot of people say that I am arrogant (behind my back) but I dont think so, just because someone looks good and dresses nice and has alot of friends doesnt make them arrogant, Im not really mean to people that are not popular but Im not particualy extra nice to them and some people mistake that for being arrogant.

Mostly high self-esteem, but it can shift toward arrogance when I am challenged on a subject where I am an expert by somebody who demonstrably is not.

Arrogance indicates you have no respect for others. If you have self respect, you also respect that others have just as much value.

I'm not arrogant. But I am self confident, and have strong opinions.

I'm confident, not arrogant. The difference is I believe in myself, and my skills, but never forget the fact I can always learn from anyone around me.

Oh yes I can be when I need to. I will not humble myself to self rightous gits. Some call it arrogance but I call it giving them a taste of their own medicine..

I'm never arrogant. It's beneath me. I'm not, as my wife puts it, "self-righteous" either. I can't help that I scored a 147 on my IQ. People just hate me because I'm so f****** smart. Oh well.

I'd rather be smart and hated than dumb and well-liked.

(Contradiction intentionally added for humor).
