1.2x + 3 = 9

1.2x=9 - 3

1.2x = 6

6/1.2 = 5

Unless 1. is just the number of the problem and not part of it then its

2x + 3 = 9

2x = 9 - 3

2x = 6

6/2 = 3

x = 3

2(3) + 3 = 9

x = 5

1.2(5) + 3 = 9

subtract 3 from both sides ( the 3 and the 9)
9-3=6 so
2x=6 now divide both sides by two because u need to get the x on its own.
6 divided by 2 is 3 so
x=3
