I have often wondered if the reason they like other peoples children is that they cant seem to have their own kids with their preferred partners

Social workers are leftwing politically correct do-gooders. who poke their noses into peoples businesses. ask my mrs she had 2 kids taken off her. Most of them dont have kids so what gives them the right to judge parents. Everything they learn comes out of a manual.

And most of them are Lezzas who dont like men.

This is an absolutely ridiculous question. Sorry. I work with many social workers. Most of them have children and if they wear glasses it is because they are prescribed. That you should take the few social workers you have seen and lump them into a homosexual phenomenon by their fashion sense is inane. That you should believe they only "like" children because they don't have their own is a travesty.

A Master's in Social Work (MSW) takes 8 years to complete and does not specifically involve children, although the workers I know do care a great deal about children. My business partner is a male social worker with a little boy. He cares about everyone who needs his help regardless of age, color, race, gender, and creed. There are homosexual and heterosexual people in every work force. Their choices about who they fall in love with have nothing to do with the reason they choose their jobs. Social workers are usually very compassionate, empathic people. The cropped hair thing is your imagination. Who cares how they wear their hair? And comfortable shoes? I wear them all the time. Does this make me a lesbian? If so, I'd love to know your definition of homosexuality.

Your question comes across quite prejudiced. This is a very strange stereotype you are promoting. Be careful where you cross the line between a question and an attempt at promoting your own bizarre veiwpoints.

Your ex had two children taken from her? It is because she was absolutely doing something abusive to them. The state does not keep children unless there is absolute proof they have been severely abused or neglected. Contrary to what some may believe, you can torture a child and never have that child taken away. Protecting a child's rights has nothing to do with either politics or being a "do-gooder". The people who do this have humanity and heart. There are so many people severly abusing their children out there that the pediatric social workers (Or DSS, who are not necessarily social workers) can barely get to half of them.

That anyone should believe that it is wrong to do well by others is simply crazy. And as for those of you who believe some social workers have short hair, etc. because the "wackos" might go "insane" on them, you are spreading far more prejudices than fruitcell here. Just because someone needs the help of a social worker does not mean they're extremely mentally ill. Please know your facts before making such a terrible statement. It is people like you who hold others back from getting the help they so richly deserve. Stop stigmatizing, and worry about your own lives. Thank goodness there are people in this line of work to make up for those who know nothing about it and could care less about anyone but themselves.

I'm not a social worker, but after spending a fortune on a degree and not finding work I cropped my hair short, bleached it blonde and immediately got hired. Comfortable shoes don't mean squat when you run 9-13 hours straight. I have worn the best tennis shoes the past 10 years and my feet hurt so bad I have to take motrin. Please tell us why you need a social worker for your kids, I'm interested in why your lacking as a parent that you need government help, then you bite the hand that feeds. Kick them out of your house and stop crying like a childish baby.

There are social workers in different areas they dont only deal with children, and of course they dont all have short hair and glasses, glasses are worn because they were prescribed apart from sun glasses, and people wear their hair because of the style they choose, and as for shoes every one that wear shoes would do like to wear a pair of comfortable shoes, especially if they have a lot of walking to do. I am very sure the same applies to you.

I think Lynda M has it right... Social workers sometimes have to deal with psychotic or violent people, so they may tend to dress accordingly... you'll also find that if they wear ties, they'll often be false ties which snap off if you pull them- that's so the can't be strangled... (or is that the police- oh well) and if they come to see you on a visit, they may well choose to sit in the chair closest to the door so that when you start going insane and try to kill them, they can get out.

'they cant seem to have their own kids with their preferred partners' ? ? ? Isn't it more that they're paid to protect those kids... those guys have to work pretty hard to get into social work positions as well, they have to know their stuff...

Well, I just got a degree in social work, and I'm only 20. I have long hair, love to run and work out, never worn glasses, although I can attest to wearing comfortable shoes. We have enough stress with our jobs to not be worrying about sore feet! I do work with juvenile delinquents, but there is an array of jobs for social workers that have nothing to do with children, such as working with elderly, substance abusers, families with patients in hospitals, etc

As a social worker myself and a single mother of four sons. I do not have short cropped hair, or glasses, however, I do wear comfortable shoes. This is a very bizarre stereotype you have shared. I know a great deal of social workers that do not fit into this category. God bless****

Hi,
I guess just as estate agents all have black suits and a clipboard, my software engineer freinds all have 70's long hair specs, and no interest in anything else, apart from beer, and have you ever seen an ugly astronaut ?.
I see the images that are predominant. Social workers included.
I am a pro. power & comms. bloke, that plays in a lousy band, and loons around on a boat.
I have no idea as to what my stereotype should look like !
Happy new year when it arrives.
Bob.

Cropped hair so little kiddies can't pull it and comfy shoes because they have to do a lot of walking? Not sure about the glasses though...

Short cropped hair - so wackos can't pull their hair out
Glasses - so wackos can't poke them in the eye
Comfortable shoes - in case either of the above fail, they can still leg it.
