You can't stop him. He has to do it on his own. Every day, ask him nicely to live longer for you by quitting.

My dad smoked until the Surgeon Generals report came out in the sixties and he quit becasue of the evidence of the damage smoking causes. I, on the other hand, started when I was twelve and at age 42 am still smoking. I have quit in the past, I know I can quit,I just start smoking because of the stress because in my life, I do not feel I have anyone I can be rely on for the difficulties I face .So logically, to stop smoking permanently, just never have a smoke again, Emotionally and habitually, you may need a support system

im sorry to here tht i know some people with that problem that go to NA meetings (narochatiocs anynomous) but he has to be willing to stop other wise it wont work he can also get a sponser that can help him not best of wishes and happy ew years

You can't, not until he's ready to stop. But you can point out that his smoke is getting into your lungs too.
